PROTEC17 won six awards in the International Labor Communications Association’s 2022 Labor Media Awards contest — the largest competition exclusively for Labor journalists. Thousands of entries tell the story of the global labor movement, and are judged by experts in the field across the industry. The 2022 contest recognizes labor media created in 2021.
The six awards given to PROTEC17 include:
- General Excellence: Print Publication — 2nd Place for Insight
- Saul Miller Award: Collective Bargaining — 3rd Place for ‘Ensuring workers have a voice on the job‘
- Saul Miller Award: Organizing — 3rd Place for ‘Airport Duty Managers at Port of Seattle join PROTEC17‘
- Writing: Best Labor History Story — 2nd Place for ‘Son of former member searches for late father’s union activism in PROTEC17 archives‘
- Writing: Best News Story — Honorable Mention for ‘Vaccination efforts continue…‘
- Writing: Best Profile — 3rd Place ‘COVID-19 vaccinations roll out; PROTEC17 member shares his experience‘
The awards are open to all ILCA member organizations and are given in two different classes: national/international unions, federations, councils, and allied organizations; and local/regional/state federations, central/area labor councils, and allied organizations. ILCA award categories are in general excellence, visual communications, best multimedia campaign, writing, electronic media, best use of earned media, political action, and organizing.
