Please join us for this special workshop with the Washington State Labor Council’s (WSLC) April Sims and Cherika Carter on Race and Labor. Description from the presenters below:

Participants of this workshop will explore the manifestations of racism within our workplaces and communities – grounded in the understanding that race and organized labor are inextricably bound. WSLC’s 2015 resolution on Race & Labor calls on unions to develop a robust counter-narrative to right-wing populism, starting with a shared history and collective work of making racial justice central to our organizations and how labor allies can work together.

This workshop is presented as part of the Washington State Labor Council ‘s (WSLC) racial justice program as outlined by WSLC Convention Resolutions. Our working definition: Racism is a system of oppression, designed to divide the working class, so the wealthy elite can consolidate their wealth and power at the very top.
