Your *NEW* PROTEC17 Sound Transit Chapter!
At PROTEC17’s Regional Executive Committee (REC) meeting, delegates of the union’s governing body voted enthusiastically to create an official chapter for Sound Transit employees who are now represented and have their first contract. Passenger Information Coordinator’s (PICs) at Sound Transit organized with PROTEC17 in 2024 and ratified their first contract in early March 2025. At the REC meeting, members of the Sound Transit organizing committee spoke about the progress being made with unionizing efforts more broadly at the organization and the exciting momentum we are experiencing as more and more groups unionize to make change. Congratulations on your first union contract!
We have our first official UNION contract with Sound Transit for Passenger Information Coordinators!
Some highlights of the contract include:
- Shift bidding schedule
- Ten hours of holiday pay eligibility for 4/10s
- Commitment to continue discussion re: comp time in lieu of overtime
- Wage table adoption (11.7% average in ‘25)
- 3% wage increases in ‘26 and ‘27
- 2% annual step increase
- $4K, $4.5K & $5K top-of-scale retention awards in lieu of wage increases in ‘25-‘27, respectively
- 2024 performance bonus(es) still apply to all
- $5k longevity pay after 8 and 15 years
